In 2015 AIRE will introduce the lightest, self-bailing, whitewater-worthy watercraft the world has ever seen.
With support from AIRE, the BAKraft is the creation of Cory Walker of Idaho. Well-known in the boating world for manufacturing quality inflatable watercraft for over twenty-five years, AIRE's craftsmanship is legendary.

With an elegant and simple design, the BAKraft is incredibly stable, responsive and fast.
Constructed with a Dyneema shell and urethane bladders, the BACKraft currently weighs in at 6.5 pounds, without thigh straps. Suggested retail will be around $1,200. A lighter and less expensive non-self-bailing model is also in the works.
It was a pleasure and an honor to be one of the first to experience paddling the new BACKraft. A huge thanks to Cory Walker and the great folks at AIRE.
I plan to write a more detailed review when I return with it from the Grand Canyon. In the mean time please enjoy these photos that William Taggart and I captured of paddling the BAKraft through Snake River Canyon.

I have received several questions about stowing gear. Currently there's room to store a pack in the stern behind the seat. Future models will have the option to stow gear inside the main tube as well. The BAKraft already has full length zippers on the shell of the main tube and therefore it's an easy modification.
ReplyDeleteI talked to a rep at Aire the other day and he said that there are currently no plans for the main tube storage. He did say, however, they added several sets of "d" rings for securing gear.
