Designated as part of the 1984 Wyoming Wilderness Act the 123,451-acre Jedediah Smith Wilderness Area is located on the western slope of the Teton Range between Grand Teton National Park and the Idaho/Wyoming border. With abundant snowfall and a diversity of terrain, the Wilderness is a nationally renowned destination for "primitive and unconfined" winter recreation including backcountry skiing, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing.
